Responsibility towards community worldwide
The Kunming family is committed to giving back to the community worldwide. We believe that there is no moving forward without giving back. Our modest contributions are currently concentrated on two organizations - THON, and Ekal Vidyalaya.
THON is a 46-hour dance marathon that takes place every February at the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania, with the purpose of raising money and providing emotional support to children and families suffering from pediatric cancer. The money that is raised is donated to The Four Diamonds Fund, a charity devoted to research and caring for patients at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation is a non-profit organization involved in education and village development in rural areas and tribal villages of India and Nepal. It is the largest grassroots, non-government education initiative in India with the presence in 51,717 villages providing free education to more than one million children. The individual schools, known as Ekal Vidyalayas, have local teachers who teach in the regional language using various modes of story-telling, folk dramas, and folk songs. The schools also convey moral education, health care education and organic farming techniques.
